Learning through play, connection & discovery
At Raíces & Roots, children learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences in a warm, bilingual environment. Our play-based program is inspired by Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches, encouraging children to explore their interests, build independence, express creativity, and develop a lifelong love of learning.Activities are thoughtfully adapted to each child’s age, interests, abilities, and developmental stage.

Raíces & Roots is a licensed Registered Family Child Care Home in Springfield, Oregon. Our intentionally small group allows Ms. Johanna to know each child deeply, respond to their individual needs, and build the strong, trusting relationships that help children feel secure and confident.

Meet Ms. Johanna
18 years of experience caring for and teaching children.Originally from Colombia and a mother of two, Ms. Johanna brings her culture, family values, education, and nearly two decades of experience with children to Raíces & Roots.Her experience includes eight years as a nanny, followed by professional childcare experience, including nearly two years as a lead teacher and childcare provider.Johanna studied Early Childhood Education at Lane Community College, earning certificates in Early Childhood Teacher Aide 1 and Guidance & Curriculum.She created Raíces & Roots to provide the kind of environment she believes every child deserves: one where they feel safe, important, respected, and loved.
A Day at Raíces & Roots
Every day is shaped around the children in our care.
Our days balance play, exploration, creativity, movement, rest, nourishing meals, and meaningful connection. Activities and routines are thoughtfully adapted to each child’s age, interests, developmental stage, and individual needs.
No two days look exactly the same. Activities, outdoor time, meals, naps, and routines are adjusted based on children’s ages, needs, schedules, interests, and the weather.

What's Included
Need additional hours?
Additional hours beyond your selected plan are $10/hour. Consistent additional hours may require moving to a different tuition plan.Raíces & Roots tuition is space-based rather than hourly. Payment reserves your child’s place in our small-group program and is due in advance. Tuition is non-refundable and is not reduced for absences or family vacations.
